Scary Question Number 13:

Does watching paranormal shows on TV invite that stuff into your home?

July 16th, 2010
I love to watch shows such as Ghost Hunters and Paranormal State. My family insists that you are inviting that kinda stuff into your home just from watching. What do you think?

Oh I wish this was how it worked, because I often watch the MegaMillions drawing, and that would really come in handy for paying off the student loans. And all those episodes of Top Chef would either turn me into a decent cook or there would just be delicious gourmet food waiting for me when I open the oven. I could watch the fitTV channel and never worry about my figure or cardiovascular health again.

Scary Question Number 14:

Am I possessed after watching Paranormal Activity?

After watching the film “Paranormal Activity” I have had quite a few intense nightmares. I never used to have nightmares until after watching th film for a second time. The first nightmare I was in this room where the walls were made of human skin and I was talking to two men who had bowl hair cuts and were extremely pale with black eyes. They told me that if I said “suicide” within 10 minutes I would have to stay there forever. I managed not to say it and when I woke up I couldnt move my body for a shorrt while and my legs just started to rise from the bed. I found this terrifing and quite disturbing. The second dream I woke from my bed in the dream and my mother was calling me. I went into her and she was lying on the ground face down with her head twisted to the side and she kept saying help me. When I touched her her eyes changed to cat like yellow eyes and her appearnce changed also to a more menacing face and she bit me. I have had more dreams like this one involving other family members and friends and their faces change to the same form to that which my mothers changed and they always bite me.

Does anyone else suffer from dreams like this? What could it be?

I dont listen to rock music or devil worship. Im not a depressed type person and i find this very weird. Can anyone help me please?

I often joke that I think television is magic, because although I technically know the processes by which images are transmitted to appear on a screen in my home, I am somehow still totally amazed that this works and that anyone ever figured it out. As my high school Physics teacher said, “I don’t think Physics is Julie’s best subject, but she tries really hard.” That said, I do understand that television transmission is NOT MAGIC and therefore the programs I watch cannot make things happen in my house or to me. Well, sometimes the commercials seem to make me order a pizza, and sometimes I stay up too late watching a movie and then suffer the next day from lack of sleep, but these things are my voluntary reactions to watching the programs, not the programs actually DOING anything to me against my will.

Nor have I ever interpreted having some scary dreams, especially after watching a scary movie, as me being possessed. Which isn’t to say that the occasional creepy as hell dream hasn’t made me need to go watch cartoons for an hour or so until the trauma of the dream has passed, but a bad dream is just a bad dream. Has this guy seriously never had a nightmare before? Did his parents never comfort him when he had a bad dream as a child? What did they do, tell him it was the work of satan’s minions? Dude, the world isn’t only made up of unicorns and lollipops, so you had better learn not to freak out when your brain copes with some of the nastier stuff by providing you with a nightmare. And stick to the G-rated stuff from now on.

Scary Question Number 15:

can witch turn herself in vampire by some balck magic spells or ritual?

If you are planning to write some sort of new insufferable paranormal series aimed at teens based on some sort of witch-vampire hybrid situation, please don’t, especially if you are so uninformed of general folklore about vampires and witches that you will ask this kind of question.

Questions about demons, possession, and witchcraft that are so dumb they're scary.

More fun with frightening queries!

Scary Question Number 8:

What type of person do demons usually go after?

If you have to post this question on a message board, you clearly haven’t been watching enough monster movies and tv shows. You could just about trip over one in your living room these days, so it’s not that hard. I do wonder if this person is asking this question in order to find out how to attract or to ward off demons. Maybe they just want to know if they go after people with blue eyes who enjoy long walks on the beach.

Source: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20100530101329AATsybb

Scary Question Number 9:

Q: Have you ever personally experienced something clearly supernatural or preternatural?

A: I once had a panic attack and thought I was possessed. Turns out I just can’t take pseudaphedrine, which is what they use from cold medicine to make meth, and can have quite the effect on the nervous system! But that’s the closest I’ve ever come to anything “paranormal.”

I think this may be my favorite question yet. I accidentally took a double dose of pseudoephedrine once, and it sure as hell didn’t feel like anything supernatural. I had a lot of energy, but I didn’t feel like I could lift a truck off of anyone, so it’s a good thing I didn’t need to. My house sure got clean. How anyone could think feeling jittery and kind of ill while unable to sit still could be possession beats me. That would be one lame-ass demon. Maybe its sister would make her possessed people temporarily feel socially awkward and bad at math.

Maybe I’m just not very creative for thinking “perhaps these are side effects of that new medication I just took” instead of “oh my God, surely I am possessed!” whenever I feel a little strange after taking pills.

Scary Question Number 10:

What is a spell to turn yourself into a witch?

Really? If that was how it worked, how exactly would that work? Wouldn’t you have to be a witch to know and be able to perform spells?

I’ve never even heard of spells to turn anyone into a witch. A toad, yes. Or even a hoagie.

Maybe this is like trying to use Cliff’s Notes for a thesis, or buying a term paper off of the internet (and shame on those of you who do that, by the way)? A shortcut to becoming a witch to avoid the pesky birthright requirement or actual study and practice?

Also, if you ask questions this silly, and are in to loopholes and shortcuts, good luck ever having the sense to practice effective witchery. Might want to check the status of your homeowner’s insurance . . .

Have you seen any questions about the supernatural that made you cringe or slap your forehead? Please send them in for mockery and snarkiness!

Former used car dealer Ruben Hernandez from Downey, California, tried to practice magic similar to vodun and Palo Mayombe in order to try to make his enemies see him as a good guy.

Marshals arresting Hernandez on charges of home-buying fraud, defrauding banks of approximately $4 million, found an altar/shrine in his bedroom. On it there were crosses, animal skeletons, and effigy dolls with the names of investigators on them.

Officials were fairly freaked out by Hernandez’s altar, but it didn’t stop them from throwing the book at him. Hernandez has been convicted and will be going to jail. The prosecutors said they weren’t afraid of Hernandez’s spells, despite seeing case-related figures on the altar, though one of the prosecutors said his left foot swelled unexpectedly during a preliminary hearing.

Maybe not leading a life of identity theft and bank-bilking crime would have served Hernandez better than some after-the-fact spells to try to fix his image.

Five women writhed, screamed, and crawled like animals after visiting the reader, claiming to have been bewitched by her during the visit.

A local priest tried to calm the villagers with prayer, but the people stormed the woman’s house anyway and burned it to the ground after finding a Ouija board there.

The woman was chased down the road but escaped with help from the police.

So were the women really bewitched, seriously dissatisfied customers, or scheming “mean girls” who just didn’t like the reader? It’s like a supernatural version of “Desperate Housewives.” Too bad the accused apparently hadn’t read her own future lately.

Recently, other South African witch doctors, or sangomas, slaughtered a cow at the Soccer City stadium to bless the stadium and just maybe give a little home field advantage to the local team.

I ask because people have been getting killed over witchcraft lately, and I just wanted to check to see if we are really in the 21st century or if we had warped way back somehow.

Earlier this month in the Bangiwada village in Naswadi, India, seven people were arrested for killing a woman and her son, who had been called a witch and a sorcerer. The accused said the victims caused the death of one of the accused’s relatves, who had died of tuberculosis. The accused, who beat the victims to death with sticks, said the victims summoned evil spirits and plotted the man’s death. Police noted that several of the accused were related to the victims. Three of the accused were stepsons of the woman they killed. Police also stated that the real motive behind the crime was a land dispute going back many years. So, if the real motive HAD been the death allegedly caused by witchcraft would that have made the killings ok?

In Gold Bar, Washington, Eric Christensen is on trial for killing his girlfriend, Sherry Harlan. Christensen told police he had made Harlan take a Wiccan blood oath to cut off contact with an ex-boyfriend, but that he found evidence of further contact. In his eyes, Christensen said, that made Harlan a warlock or evil traitor. Christensen added, “In ancient times, people who broke blood oaths were sometimes killed.” Despite all that, and some additional evidence, Christensen denied involvement in Harlan’s death until his lawyer smartly changed strategy and instead took the angle that it may have been murder but not premeditated. Good idea, because the last time I checked my criminal law textbooks I didn’t see violation of witchcraft code, or infidelity, for that matter, as a valid defense for committing murder.

This past week, the residents of Rajapara, India, held a public meeting to determine the cause of multiple illnesses in a village. A shaman accused Bishnu Rabha, 65, and his wife, 60, of practicing witchcraft. After the meeting, villagers apprehended the couple, took them to the woods, beat them, and burned them alive. Police are investigating the matter. Well, that all sounds fair: some people get sick, so kill the people believed to have caused the illnesses? That’s a little more like a leg for a toenail than an eye for an eye, folks.

I’m not going to discuss the children accused of witchcraft in Nigeria. It’s too awful and makes me too upset.

It’s Question Time again!

Scary Question Number 3:

Ghosts and Photography-How do cameras catch ghosts in the picture and how does it work?

How does a camera know when a ghost is around, I take pictures all the time and I never see any white stuff that let;s you know that the white stuff is a ghost, what type of camras cature real ghosts in the picture.

Dang. This person seems to think that a camera can be sentient regarding the presence of ghosts. Somehow I can’t find the “detect ghosts” setting on my Kodak dial. Oh, wait, maybe I need to upgrade to a more advanced camera that captures “real ghosts.” You know, the kind that have been used to definitively prove to all that ghosts really exist. Surely this person isn’t that out of touch with reality. That’s too scary to think about. Maybe this question just came from the future . . .

Scary Question Number 4, Part A:

If a person practices Wicca….does that automatically make them a witch?

Question:
I am new to Wicca and am still learning. When will I actually be considered a witch??

Scary Question Number 4, Part B

Wat does being a witch mean? Am i a witch?

It sounds ridiculous, but i think im a witch. anybody who thinks they can help or guide me, please can i have your email address.

Well, the BEST way to make sure you’re a REAL witch is to pay at least several hundred dollars to someone who is willing to certify you as a witch. Duh.

Scary Question Number 5

Are mythical creatures like bigfoot and the loch ness monster real?
is it true?
is there proof?
thanks

I really hope the people who ask questions like this are under the age of 8 or have just come out of a lifetime of complete seclusion from others. How is it they are capable of finding some sixth-rate question board but are obviously incapable of performing the most basic of searches on the internet? How do they remember to breathe? I hope they don’t drive . . .

Facing a long wait for publicly funded treatment, Hayley donned a fertility bracelet made for her by her mother.

Four weeks after she began wearing the bracelet, Byrne discovered she was pregnant. Byrne gained a new respect for her mother’s Wiccan practices, and she relied on crystals and prayers instead of painkillers during childbirth. She claims giving birth was easy and painless to the point of surprising the midwife.

Apparently you can buy fertility bracelets from all kinds of places, even Amazon.com. I don’t know, but I would think if these kinds of things really work, they are probably way more effective when made for you specifically by someone who cares about you than when they are purchased anonymously on the web. Then again, just about anything seems better than painful procedures that require a second mortgage.

I feel confident in labeling this as the first post in a series, based solely on the number and quality of the things I saw just this past week. I am more afraid of the people asking these questions than the strange noises I hear coming from the attic at night.

Scary Question Number 1:

This Sounds Stupid But, How Do I Get Rid Of My Poltergeist?
Now i know that this sounds really stupid but everything that is important to me in my house has gone missing, sometimes never to be seen again.

My mum looses her jewelry.

I have had three sets of keys that have gone missing and I keep having to get new ones cut. They can’t be anywhere because I have stripped the house down.

Things that go missing never come back.

How do I find these or get rid of a “poltergeist”.

Thanks.

Darn, no answers so far. I was hoping to learn something that could help me find that earring that I lost out of carelessness spirits clearly took from me.

Scary Question Number 2:

Do anyone knows any witchcraft to get your ex back?

There is no content posted past the question itself. This question is scary for its abuse of the English language and for its totally misguided approach to relationships. Unfortunately there were answers from equally morally disturbed souls either providing links to a witch who has worked relationship spells with success or providing spells themselves.

Nothing says love like a hex bag.

A woman in India filed police complaints against her neighbors for calling her a witch and physically abusing her. The police didn’t take the complaints seriously, she said.

Accusation of witchcraft and subsequent physical mistreatment is common enough in Rajasthan that the state’s women’s commission drafted a bill that would impose penalties on the accusers if abuse and humiliation is involved, and jail sentences if the accused commits suicide.

In Nepal this week, a 35-year-old woman was killed by her neighbors because they accused her of practicing witchcraft and thereby making a woman ill.

And we though the clique-ish behavior on those “Real Housewives” programs was bad . . .
